I think the Marching Activity is one of the hardest activities you can do. From a mental standpoint, it’s amazing how we are asked to focus simultaneously on playing our music, our marching and how we fit in with an entire ensemble.
I mean, humans only have so much RAM memory right? Is there a way to upgrade said memory? How do the world class Drum Corps and Indoor Percussion members do it?
This is where auto pilot can come in handy. Of course, most of the time I discourage students from going into auto pilot, simply because most of the time…they don’t know the right times to use it.
