Ratamacues, Flams, Drags, and Ghost Notes! – Your First Year of Drum Lessons – Week 21 – Hands

1 min read

Welcome to week twenty-one of our technique/theory/pad lessons. In this lesson we’ll finish up our introduction to the Percussive Arts Society’s 40 standard rudiments with the Single, Double, and Triple Ratamacues. We’ll talk about different ways of interpreting the drag portion of the Ratamacues, and how that can apply to all of the Drag rudiments. We’ll learn a couple simple but physically demanding exercises to prepare us for our introduction to Ghost Notes on Friday. And we’ll learn this really funky Flam exercise that I’ve loved for decades.
