Marking Time: A History of Drum & Bugle Corps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
1 min readThe rich history of drum & bugle corps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, dates back to 1928, when French immigrant Jack Fromm organized the Playground Drum & Bugle Corps, for boys ages 8-12. Through subsequent years, Cedar Rapids was home to more than a dozen corps and drill teams. Freelance journalist Cindy Hadish interviewed past members, directors, drum majors and staff, with excerpts included in this video. The book, “Marking Time: A History of Drum & Bugle Corps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa,” was published in 2020 by the Iowa Music & Arts Association, with graphic design by David Miessler-Kubanek.
