Let’s meet another veteran featured in the “Faces of Union Soldiers” series of books! Andy and Matthew Borders, one of two authors of the books, tell the story of Lucius Fairchild. Featured in the South Mountain book of the series, he was an 1849 gold rush miner before serving as a officer in the Iron Brigade and then going into politics.
