How to replace the main body on Dyson V7™ and V8™ Cord-free vacuums

How to replace the main body of your Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum. The main body is engineered and tested to last the lifetime of your machine in normal domestic use.

However if you happen to need to replace it – for example, due to accidental damage – this is quick and easy to do. Just follow the steps shown in our video guide.

Always ensure you disconnect your machine from the charger cord before carrying out any maintenance.

Step 1. Lift the red bin base release catch to open the bin base.
Step 2. Press the red cyclone release catch to release the cyclone and remove from the main body.
Step 3. Press the red bin release catch and remove the bin from the main body.
Step 4. The main body is secured to the battery with three Phillips screws. There are two in the underside of the battery.
Step 5. The third screw is located in the rear of the handle.
Step 6. Remove the main body from the battery, then remove the post-filter.
Step 7 .Dispose of any old parts in accordance with local codes and regulations
Step 8. Refit the post-filter onto the new main body.
Step 9. Secure in place wit three existing/supplied screws.
Step 10. To refit, locate the tabs at the back of the bin in the main body, push the bin up until it locks in place and the power connectors are fitted.
Step 11. To refit align the runners on the cyclone into the slots on the main body, slide the cyclone down until it clicks in place.
Step 12. When closing the bin, ensure that the base is securely closed and that there is no gap present between the top of the bin and the cyclone.
