White Sabers at a glance
White Sabers is a DCI All-Age drum and bugle corps based in the Rochester, New York area. It rehearses and performs on a weekend model and traces its roots to Dansville in 1928. A long parade history and a modern competitive return
The corps began under American Legion Post 87 in Dansville. It became independent in 1957, continued as a concert and parade ensemble, and later became inactive. A 1994 reunion renewed interest; activity resumed in 2004, followed by DCA Class A competition in 2005.
White Sabers won Class A championships in 2013 and 2014 and moved to Open Class in 2015. The official history describes fourth place in 2019 as a major milestone in that era. In 2022 the corps relocated to the Rochester suburb of Gates and entered DCA’s newly created World Class before returning to Open Class in 2023. Recent productions: sky, mystery, and memory
The season archive identifies Aurora: Into the Night Sky in 2024, built around the sun, moon, Mars, Jupiter, and aurora. Its repertoire connected music by Omar Thomas, Hans Zimmer, Beethoven, Holst, Train, The Weeknd, and Stellardrone. In 2025, Isle of the Dead moved to a shipwreck and cursed-island setting, with selections including Revueltas, Nancy Galbraith, Eric Whitacre, Niviro, and My Chemical Romance.
The corps’ homepage explains that a scene set to The Cinematic Orchestra’s To Build a Home honored members of the White Sabers community who had died. The production therefore linked a broad audience theme with the organization’s own history. 2026 scene explanation.
