Sherbrooke, QC · DRUMCORPS.NET PROFILE

Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada • DCI Open Class • French Canadian drum corps

Les Stentors preserve a distinctive Québec route into the marching arts: local music education, French-language community roots, family involvement, and summer performances beyond the Canadian border. Their story includes several predecessor organizations, so a single founding date can hide the more interesting development. Information

The story behind the name

The official timeline traces two Sherbrooke organizations: Les Pionniers de Fleurimont and the Académie musicale de Sherbrooke. In 1985 the Académie used the former Pionniers’ instruments and facilities to establish a children’s corps, the Cadets de l’Académie. Parents sought an autonomous organization in 1987 under the name La Relève Musicale; the timeline associates adoption of “Les Stentors” with 1988 after a member naming competition. Official historical timeline

The same timeline records a first DCI contest in Ottawa in 1993, a first American tour in 1996, and a first World Championships trip to Madison in 1998. It identifies a first divisional semifinal in 1999 and first final in 2010, followed by further finals in 2014 and 2015. The DCI directory uses different early dates; this profile follows the corps’ own detailed timeline and avoids presenting those inconsistent summaries as a single uncontested chronology. Competitive context and educational role

DCI identifies Les Stentors as a Sherbrooke Open Class corps and records the organization receiving the 2010 Most Improved Corps distinction. Their Canadian home does not automatically place them in International Class: consult the event’s actual class listing. Class names, scores, and championship sessions should remain attached to the year and event when discussing results. DCI corps profile

For a viewer, Les Stentors offer an opportunity to follow development over a summer as well as final placement. Compare an opening performance with a later run to hear ensemble confidence, balance, and timing develop. Use official corps or authorized event footage and retain the upload’s event and date; a promotional montage is different evidence from a complete judged performance.

DCI’s 2026 Finals account records tenth place at 69.400 for Les Stentors. DCI championship report.
