The Sacramento Freelancers reached DCI World Championship Finals ten times between 1976 and 1992. Their history continued beyond that major junior-corps chapter through alumni and other performance settings.

A 2017 SoundSport feature documented a Freelancers ensemble performing at California DCI events and preparing for mini-corps appearances in New York. Members described preserving the red, black, and chrome identity and a California jazz sound rooted in the original corps.
