History & identity

Magic of Orlando entered the field in 1990 and first reached DCI Finals in 1994 with Cirque de Magique, Part Deux. Its original programs and colorful visual concepts gave it a distinct place among the 1990s touring corps.

After not touring in 2000 and 2001, Magic returned in 2002 under the rules for a reemerging corps. Desert Winds used music from Jerry Goldsmith’s The Wind and the Lion. Magic won Division II with 99.050 and advanced through the Division I rounds to finish eleventh at Finals.

What makes this corps distinctive

The 2002 season shows why results must retain their competition class. Magic’s 99.050 was a Division II championship score, not a score from the Division I Finals panel. The corps performed six consecutive championship-week nights while moving through the two competitive pathways.
