Golden Empire offers a distinctive college-connected route into drum corps. It is a program of Bakersfield College’s Performing Arts Department and is supported through the college foundation. Origins and regional identity
The corps’ official description dates its founding to 2014 and identifies it as an extension of the Bakersfield College Drumline. It describes monthly spring rehearsals followed by more frequent summer preparation, public performances and tour. DCI reported that the 2025 corps concluded its season at the July 13 SoCal Classic in Buena Park. That regional endpoint matters when evaluating a year’s record; the absence of a championship-week result is not the same as a low placement at a championship the corps did not attend. The first championship trip in 2018 produced an eleventh-place Open Class finals finish at 67.075. DCI’s report notes that Golden Empire ranked as high as eighth in percussion and color guard and identifies Aaron Aragon as drum major.
