Austin, TX · DRUMCORPS.NET PROFILE
A Texas corps with a rapid early rise
DCI dates Genesis’ founding to 2009 and its first tour to 2010. The corps reached Open Class finals on that initial championship trip. Chris Magonigal is identified as co-founder and executive director in DCI’s 2017 history. After seven Open Class seasons, the organization was approved for World Class effective in 2017. Its early honors included Most Improved Open Class recognition in 2011 and 2013 and bronze medals in 2013 and 2014. This sequence distinguishes founding, debut competition and divisional promotion as separate milestones. World Class approval report.
One especially consequential season was 2013. DCI’s retrospective describes an increase from a 63.500 final championship score in 2012 to 74.650 in 2013, along with the corps’ first World Championship semifinal appearance. Those are documented historical results, not a guarantee that numerical changes across years measure the same judging conditions. DCI scoring-history feature.
Selected production and recent result
DCI’s 2018 capsule identifies RetroVertigo and a Pink Martini-associated version of Que Sera Sera. It also describes the corps’ initial World Class season in 2017: 23rd place and a 76.213 final score. Such dated capsules are useful for connecting a show’s sound with its season rather than assigning a piece to the wrong uniform or year. 2018 season context.
The official 2025 Indianapolis prelims table lists Genesis 22nd at 78.075. This is a preliminary-round result; a full season archive should preserve separate prelims and semifinals entries rather than substitute one for the other. Official 2025 prelims.
Policies and reporting routes
The published safety page links whistleblower and anti-retaliation policy, non-discrimination guidance and a secure reporting form. It also lists board@genesisdbc.org for direct board contact. Its text contains different descriptions of report recipients and older named administrators, so a reporter seeking a particular confidential channel should confirm who receives the submission. The existence of a hiatus does not erase the relevance of a channel for past members or unresolved concerns. Policies and reporting.
