Here are surviving recorded excerpts (of the 3-hour-broadcast) of the CBS Network’s All-American Thanksgiving Day Parade (as aired in Chicago via WBBM Channel 2), here emphasizing the Aloha Festival Floral Parade in Hawaii, of which John Hillerman (of Magnum, P.I.) and Linda Lavin (of Alice) are the hosts and color commentators.

(This was part of a series of parades examined in the three-hour special hosted by Larry Hagman and Linda Gray of Dallas, including the Macy’s Parade in New York, hosted by Bruce Boxleitner and Susan Sullivan; the Gimbel’s Parade in Philadelphia, hosted by Kevin Dobson and Christopher Norris; the J.L. Hudson Parade in Detroit, hosted by William Christopher and Marla Gibbs; and the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto, hosted by Mary Frann and Joan Van Ark; none of which are included here except for very short snippets as the recording cuts from one segment to another.)

Recording comes in as John and Linda introduce each other alongside luau dancers, then do a hula dance; we cut to Kevin and Christopher in Philly before recording cuts back to John and Linda in Hawaii, commenting as the 200-member Mililani High School Marching Band perform, followed by a float from Hawaiian Airlines spotlighting the Aloha Week Royal Court, then a performance by the Royal Hawaiian Band, a float from the Polynesian Cultural Center with young women from various Pacific island nations, a performance by the U.S. Army Marching Band (of Sousa’s “Washington Post March”), a Grand Sweepstakes Award float with a huge ukulele model as part of it (and featuring Robert and Roland Cazimero), and a performance by the Discipline Marching Band from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Honolulu
