In this video I’m trying out a type of nib holder called an “oblique nib holder”. Replacable nibs like this are used for dip pens, where you dip the tip of the pen into an ink well or bottle. This is different from a typical pen like a ballpoint pen or a fountain pen where the ink is stored within the body of the pen itself. Like I mentioned in the video, I don’t know much about it, but these oblique nibs are usually used in various types of calligraphy, where they help give a certain angle of approach. This is important for calligraphy since many of those nibs have wide, flat tips, that create a different effect depending on the direction you draw them across the paper.
