History & identity

Capital Regiment began as an indoor drum line in 1997, then launched a drum and bugle corps in 1999. The organization’s own history describes a rapid progression through DCI’s smaller divisions and into Division I competition.

The corps reached nineteenth place in 2003 and fourteenth in 2004. It paused its tours for 2007 and 2008, returned in 2009, and subsequently maintained an organizational base while considering its next chapter.

What makes this corps distinctive

The history crosses both indoor and outdoor performance. Its 2002 Climbing Everest production used music associated with New Century Dawn and Vertical Limit. Contemporary DCI coverage records Capital Regiment alongside Magic of Orlando and Mandarins as the three corps moving into Division I quarterfinals during championship week.

Legacy & related chapters

Capital Regiment Performing Arts is related to the historical outdoor corps but is not automatically the same competitive unit or classification. Contemporary DCI results identify Magic of Orlando as the 2002 Division II winner; this archive does not repeat an inconsistent championship claim on the organization’s overview page.
