Southern California • Diamond Bar / City of Industry • DCI World Class • Founded 1993

Pacific Crest grew from a small regional ensemble into a national touring corps while maintaining a strong Southern California educational identity. This guide combines its development, selected productions, its documented development, selected productions, and historical context.

From 33 performers to national competition

The official 2019 tour program records an inaugural 33 performers in 1993. The corps first competed outside California in 2000 and reached Semifinals on its first DCI World Championships trip in 2003. The program also connects the organization’s twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations with a Pasadena Rose Parade appearance. These milestones describe a measured expansion from local work into a national schedule. Official 2019 tour program and history

The historical program’s 2019 production, Everglow, organized its material around awakening, adventure, longing, trials, heartbreak, rebirth, acceptance, and departure. Musical sources included Ready Player One, John Psathas, Jerry Goldsmith’s Chinatown, Haywyre, and Danny Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands, with original staff writing. That sequence offers a useful introduction to how a corps develops a dramatic arc from several musical worlds. Official 2019 tour program and history

Recent productions and competitive context

The 2024 production, The Broken Column, drew on Frida Kahlo’s life, work, and resilience. DCI’s design interview says the intention was to explore emotions rather than provide a literal biography. Its visual planning also drew from Martha Graham’s Appalachian Spring, with frame-like architecture supporting the stage picture; Joseph Schwantner’s …And the Mountains Rising Nowhere featured in the later musical arc. 2024 production concept
