History & identity

The Glassmen were founded in 1961 and developed into a nationally touring drum corps based in Toledo. In January 2013, the organization announced that it would not participate in that summer’s DCI Tour.

The announcement connected the decision to the loss of bingo revenue and difficult economic conditions. It also described the efforts of members, families, volunteers, and staff to keep the corps operating. Because that announcement concerned the 2013 season, it should not be confused with a precise legal dissolution date.

What makes this corps distinctive

A corps’ history includes the people and institutions that sustained it, as well as its placements. The Glassmen archive therefore connects competitive-era footage with the alumni association’s continuing preservation work. The alumni store includes several historical logo treatments, a reminder that visual identity can change across a long-running organization.
