A merger, a name and a move
The Crossmen Alumni Association dates the founding to October 1, 1974, through the merger of Keystone Regiment and the 507 Hornets outside Philadelphia. Members selected the new name in recognition of American Legion Post 507, named for John Wesley Cross. The organization won Eastern States circuit titles in its early seasons, American Legion junior nationals in 1977 and VFW nationals in 1981. It later became a Youth Education in the Arts program in 1996, moved to San Antonio in autumn 2006 and separated from YEA in 2007. These transitions explain why older records associate Crossmen with Pennsylvania and Delaware while current listings identify Texas. Alumni historical account.
A production worth revisiting
The 1992 sixth-place Songs for the Planet Earth was the first part of a three-year production cycle. Its environmental theme connected atmosphere, elemental conflict and the possibility of renewal. DCI’s retrospective describes material associated with Richard Stoltzman, Paul Halley, Paul Winter and a Matt Krempasky composition, alongside visual images of a planet and a closing question mark. This is a useful historical example of a show developing a sustained idea over several seasons, rather than just a list of familiar tunes. DCI’s 1992 analysis.
As a recent benchmark, the 2025 Indianapolis preliminary score table lists Crossmen 18th at 82.500. That is the result of that particular round; it should not be relabeled a finals score or used as a current-season prediction. Official score record.
Safety and direct reporting
The safety page links policies on background checks, concussion, non-discrimination, fraternization, hazing, infectious disease, participant operations, abuse, substances, weather and hydration. Its reporting form allows optional name and email information, and the page publishes ethics@crossmen.org. It says submissions reach selected board members. Review the current documents and ask how concerns involving a supervisor can bypass that person. Safety policies and reporting.
