History & identity
The Bridgemen combined a distinctive visual identity with crowd-oriented showmanship. Their historical archive includes the St. Andrew’s era, later competitive productions, and an alumni chapter that brought their style back to exhibition audiences.
DCI’s 1983 retrospective traces the end of the competitive run: results declined in the following seasons, the corps sat out 1986, and a return in 1987 became its final season of DCI competition. That sequence is different from the later alumni corps’ history.
What makes this corps distinctive
A strong starting point is the corps’ early-1980s work, including its percussion presentation and theatrical character. The familiar yellow jackets became a visual connection between generations, while later alumni appearances allowed new audiences to experience some of the same musical and performance traditions.
