The United States regularly calls on Europe to increase its security. The Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) allows a group of European countries to address their own security and that of their allies and partners. The JEF, which was founded six years ago and comprises Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom — and soon, Iceland — can respond rapidly in peacetime or crisis. It can deploy on its own or in support of NATO, the United Nations, or other coalitions on missions such as humanitarian assistance, crisis management, constant subthreshold competition (gray-zone conflicts), and combat operations.
