Lakeview Museum Meteor Shower

2 min read

Its that time of year again! Golf balls will once again fall over Lakeview Museums front lawn for our third annual Meteor Shower fundraiser Saturday, May 22, 2010. Our most popular event, this is a family-focused day, showcasing Lakeview at its fullest capacity with educational and cultural programs including art projects, gallery walks, shows in the digital planetarium, inflatable games and much more! Come spend the whole day with something for everyone from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Experience our grand summer exhibit and the wonderful world of LEGO® sculptures! Some artists use paint, others bronze — Nathan Sawaya builds his awe-inspiring art out of toy building blocks — LEGO® bricks! With more than 1.5 million colored bricks in his New York studio, Sawayas sculptures take many forms. The Art of the Brick is the first museum exhibition to focus on the use of the popular building block as an art medium.
The day will be highlighted with a golf ball drop, where more than 2,000 golf balls purchased prior to and at the days event for will be dropped from a helicopter onto our front lawn. Purchase a golf ball or two (or more) and you get a chance to win great prizes, which include an HP laptop computer sponsored by Better Banks, a Flip Mino HD Video Camera provided by Comcast Spotlight, and a Char-Broil 4 Burner Stainless Steel LP Gas Grill sponsored by Maxim Healthcare Services.
Golf Balls are 1 for $10, 3 for $25, 7 for $50, or 10 for $75 and can be purchased at the museum or by phone. Admission for the days events is just $2 for Museum Members and $8 for others and includes games, gallery admission and more. Contact Jessica Setterlund, Special Events Coordinator, at 309.686.7000 ext. 147 or by email at jessica@lakeview-museum.org with any questions.
