DCI 1989-Phantom Regiment reaction- The best corps to not win?

2 min read

1989 was an amazing year that lives in memory. It was my first year in drum corps and the shows were EPIC! It was also the end of the 80’s and the end for Drum Corps shows as we had known it.

I have always loved Phantom and the power of the brass. Coupled with amazing classical or even modern music they have always stuck what they are good at. Bringing great music to life!

This year was the highest score ever to NOT win the title. Santa Clara scored a 98.8 and Phantom 98.4. Santa Clara had been in second for 4 years prior and honestly deserved to win this year. Even though they were not as clean as Semi’s in my opinion, but they were Powerful and the percussion was amazing!

Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
