1st Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps – Cotillion Medley (Lantern2021)
1 min readFounded in 1974, the 1st Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps has been a part of Lantern celebrations for 40 years. You might be wondering, how did a fife and drum corps from outside Detroit become one of the most beloved fixtures of the Lantern celebration? It started when an album of their music was sent to Rev. Robert Golledge, who was Old North’s vicar. Reverend Golledge listened to the music and immediately invited the 1st Michigan to perform at the 1981 Lantern Ceremony. Up until last year, members of the 1st Michigan boarded a bus and made the long trip to Boston every April. This year, they gathered socially distanced in Michigan, to record their music for us and to be a part of Lantern2021. We at Old North cherish this friendship and invite you to enjoy the music of the 1st Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps when you tune in on April 18th!
